This year again, Pruitt Eberly Stone participated in the famous CANstruction competition. Atlanta design teams consisting of local contractors, engineers, designers and architects, converted commonplace canned food into amazing, larger-than-life sculptures in a national competition event entitled CANstruction. The Atlanta exhibit was held for one week only, Nov. 6 through Nov. 16, at Underground Atlanta. This year, PES was awarded 1st place by the Atlanta jury which qualified us for the national competition. The firm’s sculpture theme was “LEED the way the Nourish Our Planet”.
About our theme: Over the past few years, the Architecture/Engineering community has seen the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) movement gain significant momentum. Every day we see more projects achieving LEED certification and continue to work towards a “green” design. By nurturing the resources we use in the Architecture/Engineering industry and preserving them for future generations we will have started a movement on our planet that will grow like a sapling into a tree. The intent behind the PES sculpture was to “LEED the way to nourish our planet” by supporting the Atlanta Community Food Bank in CANstruction 2008. The globe recognizes that hunger spans across the continents where the sapling symbolizes our humble efforts at the community level to nourish those in need closest to us. Altogether the tuna, pasta, pesto and water provide a healthy meal in an effort to help nourish the Atlanta community.
